A program depicting the strategy of trying to see as many species of birds in Michigan over one year, the thrills of victory and the despair of defeat.  Review the year of 2012 when Brian Allen was one of the top ten eBirders in Michigan.  This was presented as the main program of the 2013 Leelanau Bird Festival and very few rotten tomatoes were thrown.
 

Manistee Audubon Meeting for Wednesday Feb. 12 2014

Join Tom Funke, Director of Conservation for Michigan Audubon, as he presents "Birding for Conservation: Piping Plover", a program about how birdwatchers can turn their hobby into conservation action. This program will focus on the Piping Plover, a Federally Endangered species that nests along the Lake Michigan shore, including the Manistee area.  Meeting as usual at the Lake Bluff Audubon Center at 7:00 PM weather permitting!

The Winter of the Snowy Owl:  Manistee Audubon Meeting on Wednesday Jan. 8, 2014 at Lake Bluff Audubon Center.  7:00PM.

Come join the Manistee Audubon club in viewing a DVD about the Snowy Owl and for refreshments and talk about the Snowy Owls seen locally as well as results from the Manistee Christmas Bird Count and sightings of winter birds from the Manistee ares.

Manistee Audubon Program Wednesday November 13, 2013

Birds of the year in Manistee by Bob Paetschow and Linda Scribner

Come joins us for the program and a potluck dinner.  Dinner at 6:30 and program at 7:00 at the Lake Bluff Audubon Center just north of Orchard Beach State Park.  Hope to see you there and hear about the birds and wildlife you have been seeing too.

Bob and Linda are excellent photographers and very patient bird stalkers and their skill is evident in their pictures.  For any questions regarding the program call Brian Allen at 723-7956.  Remember our annual Christmas Bird Count is on Saturday December 21st this year.

Manistee Christmas Bird Count to be held Saturday December 21, 2013.  

The later date is due to a conflict with the special duck hunting date on our preferred Dec. 14th.  Last year we had almost no waterfowl as they were scattered and not resting in their usual areas.  We hope to have a more typical count this year and hope the weather isn't too bad by the later date.

See the incredible National Geographic Video which took 12 years to gather the imagery and find the Birds -of-Pardise shown.  This was part of the exhibit over the summer at the Dennos Museum in Traverse City.  If you missed the exhibit you won't want to miss this video.  Program at 7:00PM at Lake Bluff.  Brief business meeting of the club to follow.  For questions call 723-7956.
