Field Trip
Arcadia this Saturday, April 19 at 8:00AM.
Meet at Sunset Park at the west end of Glovers Lake Rd. (Lake St.) in Arcadia. We will park there and meet members of the Benzie Audubon Club to car pool around various birding sites in Arcadia. This field trip is in two parts. First from about 8:00 until 10:30 is the area around Arcadia Marsh. After 10:30 those that are birded out can leave if they like and the rest of us will continue to the Arcadia Grasslands or other sites of interest to the group based on democratic procedure or tyrannical coercion by the leader. April Meeting of the Manistee Audubon
We welcome Jim Scarlata of Scarlata Tree Diagnostic
Jim will present a program on the current state of Michigan's forests with a focus on the epidemic of Beech Bark Disease and the Emerald Ash borer. Will Michigan's forests survive?
Meet at the Lake Bluff Audubon Center on Lakeshore Rd. at 7:00 PM Wednesday April 9th. Discussion of local bird and wildlife sightings before the meeting as usual. Let's hear about your spring sightings.

Manistee Audubon Meeting for Wednesday March 12 7:00PM
"A Better than Average Michigan Big Year" by Brian AllenA program depicting the strategy of trying to see as many species of birds in Michigan over one year, the thrills of victory and the despair of defeat. Review the year of 2012 when Brian Allen was one of the top ten eBirders in Michigan. This was presented as the main program of the 2013 Leelanau Bird Festival and very few rotten tomatoes were thrown.

Manistee Audubon Meeting for Wednesday Feb. 12 2014
Join Tom Funke, Director of Conservation for Michigan Audubon, as he presents "Birding for Conservation: Piping Plover", a program about how birdwatchers can turn their hobby into conservation action. This program will focus on the Piping Plover, a Federally Endangered species that nests along the Lake Michigan shore, including the Manistee area.
