Lake Michigan Lakeshore Watch

The final (and coldest!) Lake Michigan Lakeshore Watch of the season will be this Saturday. Counters will be in place at stations along the coast from New Buffalo all the way north to the Platte River Mouth in Benzie County watching and counting the last of the fall migrants on the big lake.

Our club will again man the post at the First St. Pier in Manistee this time from 7:45 AM until 9:45 AM. Come and join Brian Allen and other Manistee area birders as we try to keep warm and count the ducks, gulls, and loons that pass buy. Dress warm and meet at the parking lot at the base of the First St. Pier.

Manistee Christmas Bird Count Dec. 14th.

Note the change, Manistee's CBC is SUNDAY Dec. 14, 2008. We will survey our 15 mile diameter circle (centered at Fisk Rd. and US-31 to include Onekama, Portage Lake, Chief Lake, Bar Lake, Manistee, the Manistee State Game Area, Manistee Lake, and parts of the Manistee National Forest and Lake Michigan shoreline).

We have several teams of field counters and many feeder watchers ready for the count but we can always use more volunteers.

For questions call Brian Allen at 231-723-7956 eve. and 231-723-9911 days. Hope you can join us!
